Westminster College will host pianist Dr. Matthew McCright, a 1999 alumnus, for an evening of music at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 21, in Wallace Memorial Chapel.
The piano recital, “Forward Looking Back,” showcases 75 years of music. Pieces include works by William Bolcom, Dana Suesse, Ned Rorem, Erik Griswold and George Harrison of The Beatles and will feature the world premiere of “Without Words” by Kirsten Soriano.
McCright, a native of Greenville, Pa., has an extensive career in recording and performing traditional and modern pieces. He has recorded eight solo projects and travels throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific, bringing his talents as a piano soloist and chamber musician to all parts of the world.
McCright lives in Minneapolis where he is a member of the piano faculty of Carleton College and a four-time winner of the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative. He earned his undergraduate degree from Westminster College and completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota.
