Operation Swift Gifts crowdfunding campaign launches this week at Westminster College, giving students, alumni and the campus community an opportunity to donate to their choice of Westminster fundraising campaigns.

Westminster’s Operation Swift Gifts campaign, which runs Tuesday, May 14 until 5 p.m. Friday, May 17, aims to fuel the Titan mission through donations and the collective power of the community to swiftly mobilize funds for targeted projects.

Donations can be made to programs and initiatives including the Student-Athlete Empowerment, Expand Intermural offerings, Increase Curb Appeal, Replenish Student Emergency Fund, and Wherever Needed Most.

Funding options are as follows:

Student-Athlete Empowerment: This fund will fortify the athletics program by supporting the enlistment of professional speakers and empowering student-athletes through education and mentorship.

“We have to balance a lot of things like time management, school and athletics. Speakers would show us how it’s possible to do that and excel—it’s all about developing into more than athletics,” said sophomore biology major and lacrosse player Jaheim Hawkins of Huntington Station, N.Y.

Expand Intramurals: This operation will bolster campus recreational offerings, facilitating more options for students to immerse themselves in additional extracurriculars such as hiking excursions and off-campus ventures.

“It is the mission of Westminster to connect students and grow students and provide them with excellent opportunities and connect our campus,” said Ryan Beard ’22, campus recreation graduate assistant.

Increase Curb Appeal: These contributions will enhance the aesthetic appeal of key areas, such as the landscaping around the TUB patio and more.

“It is already beautiful now, but there is so much potential here,” said sophomore environmental science major Rachel Summers of Harmony, Pa. “It is super important to get alumni involved in this project. Everyone wants to be proud of this campus.”

Replenish Student Emergency Funds: These funds will act as a strategic reserve, safeguarding the continuity of education for students facing unforeseen adversities, ensuring no obstacle obstructs their path to success. This fund is in constant use and needs to be replenished annually.

“I refer to it as the ‘Hope Fund’ because the gifts alumni give help provide hope to students who may have given up all hope to stay at Westminster,” said the Rev. James Mohr II, College chaplain.

Wherever Needed Most: Donations to “Wherever Needed Most” deploys resources allowing the Leadership Team to swiftly aid where it is most urgently required, readily meeting the needs of students.

In addition to the campaigns above, Westminster is launching a reunion contest. Each of this year’s homecoming reunion groups will compete in a “most donors” competition. Donors must select their class year when they donate on the campaign webpage.

5th Cluster: Classes of 2018, 2019, 2020
20th Cluster: Classes of 2003, 2004, 2005
25th Reunion: Class of 1999
40th Cluster: Class of 1983, 1984, 1985
55th Reunion: Class of 1969
65th Reunion: Class of 1959

Donors can check the leaderboard live on the campaign page at any time to see where their group stands. The winning alumni reunion group will earn the privilege of priority on-track seating and a pre-game announcement at the Westminster College Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Members of the 50th class reunion are encouraged to give directly to a class gift page here: www.westminster.edu/1974. They are working toward establishing an endowed scholarship in the name of the class of 1974.
