U.S. News & World Report included Westminster College once again as one of the 150 best national liberal arts colleges according to its “Best Colleges” rankings released Sept. 12.

“We are proud that Westminster is once again recognized among the nation’s best liberal arts colleges,” said Dr. Jeffery S. Coker, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college.  “Our collaborative and experiential environment continues to lead students to success as shown by outstanding retention and graduation rates, job placement, graduate school admission, and much more.”

For the last 33 years, U.S. News has gathered data from nearly 1,400 colleges and universities across the nation to generate its annual “Best Colleges” rankings. U.S. News categorize each school as a national university, national liberal arts college, regional university, or regional college as part of its methodology. Within each category, scores for each of the following seven key measures of quality are weighted to determine an overall score: graduation and retention rates; assessment of excellence; faculty resources; student selectivity; financial resources; graduation rate performance; and alumni giving.

U.S. News suggests the results of this ranking—in combination with college visits, interviews and personal intuition— can be used by prospective students and their parents as an aid when determining the best school for each student.

“It is an exciting time to be a Titan because Westminster was also recently ranked as the #1 ‘best value for the money’ in Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic Region by USA Today/College Factual and the #22 ‘Top College Doing the Most for the American Dream’ by The New York Times,” added Dean Coker.
