The Foster Art Gallery is situated in Patterson Hall, on the campus of Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. The gallery is open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the academic year. Exhibitions include an opening or closing reception with a gallery talk by the artist/s. Our exhibitions are always free and open to the public.

The Foster Art Gallery hosts four to six exhibits during an academic year, including work by Westminster students, faculty, and alumni. Visual Art majors exhibit their senior capstone research in the gallery each spring, and group exhibitions of student work made within art courses are shown on a regular rotation. Regional, national, and international artists are brought to campus for solo and group exhibitions and lectures. These exhibitions are often accompanied by workshops with our students. The gallery also invites visiting curators to collaborate with student organizations on themed exhibitions. The Foster Art Gallery features a wide sampling of media, techniques, artist processes, subject matter, and content that represent contemporary art as it is happening on our campus, within our region, and at a national and international level.

The Foster Art Gallery in its current form opened in the fall of 2012, after the renovation of Patterson Hall. The campus art gallery had previously existed in a wider hallway of Patterson Hall, and was directed by Professor of Art, Peggy Cox. The art gallery employs a student work study who works alongside faculty and visiting artists to plan, hang, de-install, and maintain the gallery. The gallery is available to host campus receptions, campus community events, and more.
