Meet Frank Antuono, one of 10 students selected for a 2020 Summer Research Fellowship. Frank, a senior business administration and sports management major from New Castle, Pennsylvania, is the first School of Business major to earn a summer fellowship. Under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Zullo, associate professor of business, Frank researched sponsorship initiative possibilities for Westminster College athletics. Frank is a captain on the football team and a member of the Westminster College Football Leadership Council.

Why did you apply for the Summer Research Fellowship?
I applied for the Summer Research Fellowship because I wanted to gain some additional in-depth first-hand experience working with regional businesses and corporations.

Why did you choose this project?
As a business administration and sports management double major, I wanted to examine how local corporate sponsorships or partnerships could benefit Westminster College athletics. I worked on building an inventory database for sponsors to choose how they would like their company to be recognized and promoted, and I created sample rate cards of those inventory options. I also strategized how to demonstrate return on investment to these businesses.

Tell us about your faculty mentor.
Since I transferred to Westminster, Dr. Robert Zullo was the first faculty member to get to know me personally.  Dr. Zullo, who is also my academic advisor, is extremely knowledgeable. In the classes I’ve had with him, I pay very close attention to soak up all of his knowledge from his past experiences.  Dr. Zullo has not only helped me in the classroom, but also outside of the classroom.  I respect his opinions and value his advice.  I have benefited greatly from working closely with Dr. Zullo during this fellowship.

What are your post-Westminster plans?
After graduating from Westminster College with my majors in business administration and sports management, I plan to enter the work force and attain a job in my field that I truly enjoy.
