Majors, Minors & Programs
The Engineering Physics major provides students with a choice of several engineering courses, a solid foundation in core physics, and supporting courses in computer science, mathematics and chemistry. This is an excellent stand-alone degree. It is also excellent preparation for students planning to obtain a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree from an accredited engineering school within a larger university.
Engineering-minded students may also be interested in our Bachelor's Degree Plus Program 3+2 partnership with Case Western Reserve University through which students can earn two bachelor's degrees--one in Engineering Physics and one in Engineering--in just five years.
At Westminster, Physics majors build skills by applying them. As a major, you will develop research projects that you will work on collaboratively with a faculty member. The practical skills that come with seeing a project through from initial planning through completion are exactly the kinds of skills employers and graduate schools want.
Further, Physics as practiced today - not to mention nearly every technical job - relies on the use of computers to solve problems. As a Physics major, you will be introduced to computer techniques from the very first week, and will continue to build your skills throughout your four years.
Interdisciplinary Programs
Science majors who are successful in their careers most often find themselves in supervisory or management positions where the fundamental business skills presented in this minor will be extremely beneficial. The minor is available to students majoring in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or Physics.
The individual interdisciplinary major allows students to design their own majors. Students identify a core of course work in one program of study (major or minor), and then add coursework from other disciplines to craft an educational experience as unique as their ambitions.

Bachelor's Degree Plus Programs
Westminster's Engineering Physics majors can apply to partcipate in our 3+2 partnership with Case Western Reserve University, which allows eligible students to earn both a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in only five years. If accepted to the program, you will spend your first three years at Westminster, taking advantage of the small class sizes, ready access to faculty, and opportunities for close collaboration, and then you'll spend two years in the engineering program at Case Western Reserve. Upon successful completion of the requirements of both programs, you'll be awarded two bachelor's degrees.
