Pre-Ministry Program

About the Program

Do you feel you have a calling and passion for ministerial work, or for working in careers where a seminary education may be helpful? If so, a Westminster education is a sound foundation for your future.

The Interfaith Studies minor provides a set of curricular and co-curricular experiences that will prepare you for success in seminary. Coursework in philosophy, history, literature, psychology, speech and sociology will further develop your critical reasoning, communication skills, and knowledge that will provide robust preparation for post-graduate study. Additionally, the Interfaith Studies minor can be paired with virtually any of our 40+ majors – or it could be the base of an Individual Interdisciplinary major of your own design.

Students interested in attending seminary can also apply to participate in our Bachelor’s Degree Plus Program, that could save you time and money by allowing you to begin seminary at the end of your junior year.

Bachelor's Degree Plus Programs

Bachelor’s Degree Plus Seminary Degree (3+3 Program)

An articulation agreement with Pittsburgh Theological Seminary enables eligible students to earn a bachelor's degree and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.). Students in the program spend three years at Westminster completing their major, minor, and liberal studies requirements, including Capstone. In year four, students transition to Pittsburgh Theological Seminary to begin three years of seminary studies, with up to 30 credit hours from the divinity program transferring back to Westminster for the completion of the bachelor’s degree.

At the conclusion of their sixth year, and all degree requirements, students receive the bachelor's degree associated with their major and their M.Div.
