Celebrity Series presents show honoring Carpenters

Westminster College Celebrity Series will host “Superstar. The Songs. The Stories. The Carpenters” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium on the Westminster College campus.

This musical experience will showcase an original perspective of songs and unique backstage stories that share an authentic picture of the Carpenters—who rose to fame in the 1970s—and their chart-topping career. The Carpenters produced 12 top 10 soft rock hits over the years.

The show stars West End and Broadway artist Helen Welch. Her distinct alto voice perfectly embraces new arrangements of hit songs such as “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Top of the World,” “Close to You,” and the title song “Superstar.”

With Richard Carpenter’s blessing, the show will honor the duo while taking audience members down memory lane through rare stories and timeless songs filled with nostalgia.
