Westminster College’s online student newspaper, The Holcad, recently named Gia Francisco editor-in-chief for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Francisco, who has been writing for The Holcad since her freshman year, begins her new position in the fall of 2024.  A junior honors student from Canfield, Ohio, Francisco is triple majoring in business administration, sports management and marketing and sales.

As editor Francisco will lead weekly meetings, delegate stories and research topics. She hopes to create a collaborative environment for ideas and opinions. Additionally, she will copy-edit student work with the support of Brad Weaver, School of Communication faculty member and Holcad faculty adviser.

Francisco is involved in various on-campus activities and organizations at Westminster, including the women’s tennis team and the Sports Promotion Club. She is the service chair for the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and a member of the Westminster Entrepreneurship Center. She also is a student writer for Westminster’s Office of Marketing and Communications.

“I love how Westminster has so many unique opportunities if you are willing to take them. Being a part of The Holcad staff has immensely helped my writing, deadline efficiency and growth as an individual,” said Francisco.
