Last month, a group of Westminster College Band students performed in the 71st Annual Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Honors Band at Mansfield University under one of the top composers in the country Professor Mark Camphouse. The Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Honors Band is the longest continuing honors band of its type in the entire country, and this year's band represented 25 colleges and universities throughout the commonwealth.

Following the specific chair auditions that occur at the beginning of the festival, Westminster musicians again received top honors including principal and first chairs for senior music education majors Timothy Savage and Sean Evanick.

"I am always extremely pleased with how our WC musicians do in their auditions in comparison with the other participants", said professor of music and director of bands Dr. R. Tad Greig. "As one of the smallest participating colleges in the festival, the quality of our musicians continually shines through".

WC Band members selected for the honors band this year were: Vanessa Sivie - Clarinet; Timothy Savage - Alto Saxophone; Angela Renninger - Alto Saxophone; Sean Evanick - Trumpet; Robert Sutton - Horn; Helen Kanaitis - Horn and Jeanne Barbour - Trombone.
