Westminster College's School of Music will present “Voices from Within VI - A Student Composers' Concert” on Thursday, April 26 at 8 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The concert is free and open for the public to attend.

The concert will feature world premieres by senior music education major Allison Clutter, junior music education major Shannon Herdman, senior English major Taylor Hertzler, senior music education major Michael Kahle, junior music education major Maura Kardasz, Nathaniel Fleming and junior music education major Patrick Raymond.

All composers wrote original pieces to be debuted and performed by their peers at the upcoming concert. They spent anywhere from an entire semester to the whole academic year to write their compositions.

“By learning to compose, students understand have to understand how music is put together,” school of music chair Dr. Daniel Perttu said.  “This then makes them better performers because they learn how to feature what is important in the music and learn what can be left in the background.”
