Department of Nursing

Westminster’s nursing programs prepare nurses for immediate and long-term success in healthcare careers. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is the preferred degree for nurses in hospital settings and gives you the skills you need to work in emergency rooms, intensive care units, and operating rooms. Other career opportunities include geriatric or rehabilitation care, becoming a licensed school nurse and working at a physician’s office.

An accredited BSN also opens the door other advanced degrees: our graduates are eligible to apply to Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs and may focus on the pursuit of advanced practice roles in nursing, including Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), Certified Registered Nurse Midwife (CRNM) or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

The department currently offers two BSN programs. Our 4-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is offered in partnership with UPMC Jameson School of Nursing. Our Online Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) Program offers working professional nurses a flexible and affordable way to deepen knowledge and add skills, leading to new career opportunities.

Public Notice of CCNE Accreditation Visit & Invitation for Third Party Comments

Westminster College Department of Nursing will host an on- site accreditation visit by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) on April 9-11, 2025. The purpose of the visit is to seek continued accreditation in the BSN post licensure program and the BSN completion program.

In accordance with CCNE accreditation procedures, interested parties may submit written comments concerning the program's qualifications for accreditation. Written third-party comments regarding the Westminster College BSN post licensure program and the BSN completion program must be received by CCNE no later March 19, 2025. Only signed comments are accepted by CCNE.

All third-party comments submitted to CCNE must be written in English, consistent with CCNE's policy on Conduct of Business in English.

CCNE shares their third-party comments with members of the evaluation team prior to the visit, but at no time during the review process are these comments shared with the program. During its review of the program, the evaluation team considers third-party comments that relate to the accreditation standards.
