The Westminster College campus is alive with students once again. Nearly 300 new Titans arrived on Westminster’s campus on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 22, and received an official Westminster welcome at the afternoon Opening Convocation in the Will W. Orr Auditorium.

The Opening Convocation ceremony—which marks the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year—featured greetings from Westminster College President Dr. Kathy Brittain Richardson, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Dr. Jamie McMinn, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Studies Dr. Andy Bain and Student Government Association President Gabrielle DiDolce. DiDolce is a senior accounting major from Shippenville, Pa.

This year’s crop of new Titans—new first-year students and transfer students—represent 17 states, Canada and Mexico. Biology, business administration, nursing, sports management and education represent the most popular majors for Westminster’s Class of 2028 students.

Following the convocation and student-parent farewells, students began the four-day orientation program, which features workshops, community-building exercises and Titan spirit activities. Students will attend their first class during orientation weekend as an academic springboard for their first week of college classes. Westminster 101 will lay the foundation for a learning community that will support the students through their college transition.

Upperclass students arrive on campus on Saturday, Aug. 24, and fall classes for all students begin on Monday, Aug. 26.
