The Foster Art Gallery and the Department of English and Visual Arts at Westminster College will host a gallery reception to celebrate the current exhibition, “Shaded: Acrylic and Threadworks,” by mixed media artist Aislinn Janek at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5.

Janek’s exhibition will be on display through Sept. 20 and will feature acrylic and thread works on paper and canvas.  Originally from Campbell, Ohio, the New York City-based artist’s work explores human universalities, intercultural relationships and how language informs one’s sense of self.

Janek has lived and traveled throughout Europe, most notably in Albania, Kosovo, Greece and Czechia, where she has been awarded artist residencies. She continues to exhibit her work in galleries nationally and internationally.

The gallery reception and exhibition are free and open to the public. The Foster Art Gallery, located in Patterson Hall on Westminster’s campus, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
