Several Westminster College Students and Faculty to Attend Conference

Several Westminster College students and faculty will attend the Eastern Psychological Association Convention April 19-22 in Washington, D.C.

Several senior thesis projects will be presented at the conference's poster session, and faculty and students will be participating in two symposia.

Dawnell Paldino, a senior psychology major from Brookfield, Ohio; Kyleigh Squicquero, a senior psychology major from Ellwood City; and Dr. Mark Sciutto, assistant professor of psychology, will report on a collaborative project, "Factors Influencing the Experience and Response to Anger and Romantic Jealousy."

"The Working Alliance: A Predictor of Interest in Higher Education," another Sciutto sponsored project, will be presented by Melissa Nosik, a junior psychology major from Sigel.

Dr. Sandra Webster, professor of psychology, and Dr. Mandy Medvin, associate professor of psychology, collaborated with Mandy Albaugh, a senior psychology major from Kane, on "The Role of Constructive Coping and Emotion Regulation in Psychological Adjustment."

Dr. David Gray, a professor of psychology, and David Boyle, a senior psychology major from Williamsport, co-authored a study, "Experience Effects on Facial Perceptions and Attributions of Deviance" and will present it at the conference.

Gray also organized a Faculty Mentor Panel titled, "Origins and Correlates of Social Dominance." Westminster College students participating on this panel are: Jennifer Grotkowski, senior psychology major from Erie; Joseph DeAngelis, senior psychology major from Sharpsville; Kenneth Rugh, senior psychology/human resources major from Jeannette; Kevan Mock, a senior psychology/human resources major from California; Sarah Phillips, a senior psychology/human resources major from Walton, Ky.; Carol Woods, a senior psychology major from Sharpsville; and Kathleen Nickel, a senior psychology/human resources major from Bethel Park.

Dr. Alan Gittis, professor of psychology, will participate in a panel discussion titled, "Behavior Neuroscience: Innovative Laboratory-based Curricula at Undergraduate Liberal Arts Colleges."
