The Westminster College Symphonic Band will perform Friday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

Under the direction of R. Tad Greig, director of bands at Westminster College, the band will perform "Prairie Wind" by Greg Sanders, "Symphony No. 2 Finale" by Tschaikowsky, "Allerseelen" by Richard Strauss, "Elegy for a Young American" written in memory of the John F. Kennedy by Ronald Lo presti, and "Incidental Suite" by Claude T. Smith.

One number of particular interest is John Phillip Sousa's "Sabre and Spurs" which he dedicated to the men and officers of the 311th cavalry. This piece includes almost constant rhythm on the woodblocks that sound like and represent the clip-clop of horses.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Westminster College Department of Music at (724) 962-7270.
