Dr. Clarence Harms, professor of biology emeritus, recently lectured at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

"My lecture was on rainforests and other places where I have been that have important ecosystems," Harms said.  "I was there at the request of Meri Beth Gubanic Furlong, a 1998 Westminster graduate who is currently the Grable Intern Coordinator at Phipps."

Harms, who retired from teaching after 34 years at Westminster College in 2003, is currently the director of the Biology Field Station, a 46-acre field studies area that includes a year-round weather station, a Nature Center, a lowland thicket, an arboretum, and other areas of ecological study.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Tabor College, his master's from the University of Kansas, and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
