Westminster College Offers Personal Enrichment Classes

Westminster College announces several personal enrichment and leisure courses for the community residents. Continuing Education classes and seminars are non-credit and are open to all interested individuals. Formal admission to Westminster College is not required.

Family Yoga is scheduled Thursdays, Sept. 19 - Oct. 17 at 5 p.m., and is taught by Kathy Birkholz. This class will focus on stress reduction and relaxation of Yoga as a family.

Communicating with Your Dog is offered four separate Thursdays: Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 14, and Dec. 12. Enrich the relationship you have with your dog with a new knowledge of doggy body signals. Time to be announced.

Finding Your Roots I is offered Saturdays, Sept. 28 and Oct. 5 at 10 a.m., and is taught by Vonda Minner. This class reviews the basics of how and where to begin a genealogical search.

Beginning Windows is offered Mondays, Sept. 16 and 23 at 6 p.m., and is taught by Nelson Boosel. This class reviews how to manipulate and use the Windows environment.

Medical Spanish is offered Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 24-26 at 5 p.m. Learn all of the vocabulary necessary to interact with Spanish speaking patients.

Shopping for Savings is offered three separate Saturdays at 10 a.m.: Sept. 21, Oct. 12, and Nov. 19. This fun-filled seminar, taught by Kara Lee Mantinaos, will go over techniques to save time and money while shopping.

Computers for Seniors, Step I is offered Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 17-19 at 4:30, and is taught by Mary Dado. This class is specifically for senior citizens who are new to the world of computers, and is a slow-paced fun workshop.

Computers for Seniors, Step II is offered Tuesday through Thursday, Sept 24-26 at 4:30 p.m., and is taught by Mary Dado. This class teaches the basics of navigating on a computer and has an emphasis on word processing.

Pilates is offered Wednesdays, Sept. 18 through Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m., and is taught by Kathy Birkholz. This class follows the teachings of Joseph Pilates in strengthening the core of abdominal muscles along with toning and elongating the rest of the muscles of the body.

Saving Face is offered Saturday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m., and is taught by Kathy Birkholz. This seminar will focus on toning and lifting sagging muscles, and lesson the onset of wrinkles.

Total Yoga is offered Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept 16 through Oct. 16, and is taught by Kathy Birkholz. This class will focus on poses to aid in stress reduction and relaxation.

Power Yoga is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 17 through Oct. 17, at
5:30 p.m., and is taught by Kathy Birkholz. This class increases the speed that the poses are performed, as well as the length of time they are held.

Gentle Yoga is offered Wednesdays, Sept. 18 through Oct. 16 at 10 a.m., and is taught by Kathy Birkholz. This class is especially designed for seniors, and moves through the poses slowly and gently to aid in mobility and general physical health.
