The "Mucho Macho Music" festival will join approximately 125 young men grades six through nine from 18 schools across western Pennsylvania with the Westminster College Men's Choir Tuesday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in North Hills Junior High School in Pittsburgh.

"The Westminster men join the participants for the day and provide them a vocal model of what is to come once the voice changes," said Shaun Cloonan, 2000 Westminster graduate and music teacher at West View Elementary and North Hills Junior High School. "They perform for the boys, but then also sit alongside them throughout the day, encouraging them, and joining them in the informal closing performance at 3 p.m. Several members also join Westminster director of choral activities Dr. Robin Lind during the afternoon in a vocal master class presented for the participating directors."

The event is sponsored by the American Choral Directors Association of Pennsylvania (ACDA-PA). Members of the student chapter of the ACDA-PA from Westminster will also be in attendance assisting in registration, observing rehearsals, and participating in the professional development workshops for the directors.

This year's guest conductor is Eileen Hower, who currently serves as president-elect for ACDA-PA. Hower teaches middle school chorus and general music in the Central Columbia School District, Bloomsburg. Choirs under her direction have been featured at many ACDA and PMEA events, including last year's national ACDA convention in Los Angeles.
