Senior to Perform Capstone Recital March 24

Nikky Lucrécia Douglas, a senior Westminster College music major, will perform her capstone voice recital on Saturday, March 24, at 3 p.m. in W. Charles Wallace Memorial Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.

Douglas is a daughter of Huley and Digna Forest, Youngstown, Ohio, and a graduate of The Rayen School. While at Westminster, she has participated in Concert Choir, Opera Workshop, Women's Choir, Jazz Faculty Band, and Jazz Ensemble. She is a member of the Westminster College Gospel Choir, gives voice lessons, and is a choreographer for Dance Theater. In her spare time, she writes, composes, and sings her own music with her band, The Titan Soul.

Jeff Wachter, an adjunct member of the Westminster College music faculty, will accompany Douglas on the piano. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University. Wachter performs in the Westminster College Faculty Jazz Quartet. He is an active composer and arranger and has authored several published works.

The program includes: "El Vito" and "Tres Morilla" by Fernando Obradors; "Mi Sueño" arranged by Edward Kilenyi; "Chanson de la Mariée" by Maurice Ravel; "Hôtel" by Francis Poulenc; "La Habanera" by Georges Bizet; "Lied der Mignon" by Franz Joseph Schubert; "Gesang Weylas" by Hugo Wolf; "Ho sparse tante lagrime" by Francesco Morlacchi; "Grief" by William Grant Still; "Come Sunday" by Duke Ellington; "Tigeroo" by Irving Fine and "The Summer Knows" arranged by Michel Legrand.
