Seraphim, a community chorus, will present their first concert, "A Festival of Lessons and Carols - Through the Eyes of Simeon," Friday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Parish in New Castle, and Sunday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. at Boardman (Ohio) Methodist Church.

Both concerts are open to the public and a freewill offering will be taken.

The chorus is under the direction of Mr. Kris Harper, Westminster College adjunct faculty in music and director of the Women's Chorus. Featured instrumentalists include Kathryn D. Miller, Westminster College organist, and Kirk Kupensky on the harp.

The part of Simeon will be portrayed by Ian Turner, a Westminster junior music education major with a concentration in voice. He is a son of C. David Turner and Sharon Turner, both of Grove City, and a graduate of Grove City Area High School.

The program includes selections from "A Ceremony of Carols" by Benjamin Britten, and carols arranged by David Willcocks, Robert Hebble, and John Rutter. The lessons are taken from King's College "Lessons and Carols" with additional narration from the perspective of the Old Testament character, Simeon.
