Professor Makes Presentation at National Conference

Posted on Tuesday, November 20, 2007

Dr. Sandra Webster, Westminster professor of psychology and faculty development officer, presented "Creating and Maintaining a Classroom Culture of Respect" at the Professional Organization of Developers national conference in Pittsburgh, Oct. 25-28.

The 90-minute interactive workshop was given to 40 of the 800 faculty developers attending the conference.

"This was a report of the work I began two years ago for a fall faculty workshop and continued this fall for a follow-up survey," Webster said. "The purpose of the study is to understand how students and faculty members at Westminster perceive respect in the classroom. The results will help us design faculty development programs that foster a culture of respect."

Webster, who has been with Westminster since 1983, earned an undergraduate degree, a master's, and a Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
