Orchestra to Present Holiday Concert

Posted on Tuesday, November 27, 2007

The Westminster College Orchestra will present "A Holiday Celebration!" Sunday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Jonathan Moser, Westminster director of orchestras and instructor of music, the program includes many holiday favorites: "Angels We Have Heard on High," "Hallelujah Chorus" from Messiah, and "Joy to the World" by Handel; Victor Herbert's "March of the Toys" from Babes in Toyland; Lowden's arrangement of Mel Torme's "Christmas Song," also known as "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire;" and Anderson's "Sleigh Ride."

In addition to students in the orchestra, several Westminster faculty members will be participating: Dr. Patricia Clark, assistant professor of history, on cello; Dr. David Cushman, chair of the Department of Economics and Business, on oboe; and Mary Moser, adjunct music faculty, on violin.

Jonathan Moser, who has been with Westminster since 2005, earned an undergraduate degree from Shenandoah University and a master's from Arizona State University.
