Lecturer to Speak at Bleasby Colloquium

Posted on Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Delores Natale, Westminster College lecturer in public relations, will be the speaker at Bleasby Colloquium on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. in Sebastian Mueller Theater in McKelvey Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Her presentation, "The Daring Life of Eudora Welty," is inspired by Welty's statement at the end of her memoir: "A sheltered life can be a daring life as well. For all serious daring starts from within."

"I will examine Welty's body of work, including her photographs, short stories, and essays, to illustrate the ways in which she was willing to take risks through her art," Natale said. "The presentation will also include video and audio clips of Welty reading and discussing her work."

This colloquium is part of the George Bleasby Colloquia, a series of literary events in honor of the late Dr. Bleasby, who chaired the Department of English at Westminster from 1954-75.

Natale, who has been with Westminster since 2001, earned an undergraduate degree and a master's from Westminster.
