Professor Served as Guest Conductor at District II Choral Festival

Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster College associate professor of music and director of choral activities, served as guest conductor at the District II Choral Festival held Feb. 7-9 in St. Marys.

Lind was invited by Keri Merklin, a 2003 Westminster graduate, who is the choir director at St. Marys High School and was host director for the festival.

The choir included 205 students in grades 10 to 12 from 43 schools. Following rehearsals on Thursday and Friday, concerts were given Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.

The program of 10 selections included "Salvation is Created" by Pavel Chesnokov; "Sleep" by Eric Whitacre; "Veniki" by F. Rubtsov; "Rorando Coeli" by Jan Campanus Vodnansky for double choir; "Make a Joyful Noise" by Kirke Mechem; and "Hush, Somebody's Callin' My Name" arranged by Mark Hayes.

Lind, who has been with Westminster since 2000, earned an undergraduate degree from the College of Idaho, a master's from the University of Oregon, and Ph.D. from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City.
