Kristen Bredniak, a Westminster College senior biology major, received an undergraduate research grant from Westminster's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Her research, "The Effects of Iodine Concentration on Limb Regeneration in Ambystoma mexicanum and the Expression of Hoxa-13," is advised by Dr. Joshua Corrette-Bennett, Westminster associate professor of biology.

Bredniak is a daughter of Robert and Connie Bredniak of Avella and a graduate of Avella Area High School.

"An important component of the work of the Drinko Center is to enhance opportunities for undergraduate research," said Dr. Terri Lenox, Westminster College associate professor of computer science and co-director of the Drinko Center. "The Undergraduate Research Initiative provides funding for students to conduct research and to present their research at regional and national conferences."

All grant recipients have the opportunity to participate in Westminster's Undergraduate Research Symposium in April.
