Dr. David Goldberg, Westminster College associate professor of philosophy, presented "A Nietzschean Solution to Ethical Relativism" Feb. 26 at Slippery Rock University. The talk was part of the lecture series sponsored by the university's Philosophy Club.
"The talk is a re-working of my chapter from the text Existential Thinkers and Ethics, edited by Christine Daigle," Goldberg said. "Its focus is on Nietzschean perspectivism and whether or not it leads to an absolute moral relativism. My conclusion is that it does not and that through both biographical and textual sources we can find evidence to justify a Nietzschean ability to adjudicate between moral positions."
Goldberg, who has been with Westminster since 2002, earned undergraduate and master's degrees from The Pennsylvania State University and Ph.D. from Duquesne University.
