Opera Westminster will present "A Night at the Opera" Saturday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

Westminster students in the spring Opera Workshop will perform scenes from Hansel and Gretel; L'elisir d'amore (The Elixir of Love); Martha, Moses; Un ballo in Maschera (A Masked Ball); and Lucia di Lammermoor.

The event is coordinated by stage director Dr. Anne Hagan Bentz, Westminster associate professor of music.

"There is a favorite story or a beautiful familiar melody in the program for everyone," Bentz said. "This is an opportunity to learn about opera by watching these talented students perform."

Assisting in the production are Westminster faculty Mihai Valcu as conductor and Marie Libal-Smith as accompanist. An orchestra of Westminster faculty, students, and guest artists will provide instrumental support.

Contact Bentz at (724) 946-6045 or e-mail bentzah@westminster.edu for additional information.
