Posted on Thursday, September 16, 2010

The Westminster College Concert Choir will present its 10th annual "Music and Meatballs" Friday, Oct. 1, at the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church. Patrons may choose from three seating times: 4:30 p.m., 5:45 p.m., and 7 p.m.

This year's theme is "Around the World" and features folk music of Scotland, Ireland, and other countries. Dinner includes spaghetti and meatball, salad, bread, dessert, hot and cold beverages, and a variety of vocal selections performed by members of the choir.

"Our students participate in this fundraiser that helps to support the choir's tour to Scotland next spring," said Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster associate professor and director of choral activities.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for seniors, students, and children. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made by calling (724) 946-7270. Tickets will be available on the first floor of the McKelvey Campus Center the week prior to the event. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door and take-outs will also be available. A gift basket raffle will be held at each seating.

The 2011 tour will be May 23-June 2 and will include Westminster's Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. R. Tad Greig, associate professor, director of bands, and chair of Westminster's Department of Music. The two ensembles include 60 students.
