Highlights of the concert will be performances by the winners of the aria and concerto competition.

Senior music education major Deanna Owens, the aria competition winner, will sing "Steal Me, Sweet Thief" from Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief.

Senior music education major Shawn Sisler, who won the concerto competition, will be the saxophone soloist in "Prélude, cadence et finale" by Desenclos.

The program will also include Bartók's "Romanian Dances" and Beethoven's "Symphony No. 1 in C Major."

Dr. Daniel Perttu, Westminster assistant professor of music, will join the orchestra on bassoon.

The orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Melinda Crawford Perttu, who joined the Westminster faculty in 2009.  She earned an undergraduate degree from Duquesne University and a master's and doctorate from Ohio State University.
