Slippery Rock Music Professor Performing at Westminster College

Dr. Nanette Kaplan Solomon, professor of music at Slippery Rock University, will perform a piano recital Wednesday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Westminster College Orr Auditorium.

Solomon will play selections from Schubert's "Impromtus," Hensel's "Das Jar" (The Year), Larsen's "Mephisto Rag," and Chabrier's "Pieces Pittsoresques," and "Bourree Fantasque."

Solomon teaches piano, music history, women in music, and music skills classes. An active performer, she has appeared in such prestigious venues as the Phillips Collection and the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., as well as Wigmore Hall in London As an orchestral soloist, she has performed with the Butler, Youngstown and Pittsburgh Symphonies, as well as orchestras in Massachusetts and New Jersey and has performed in Heinz Hall in Marvin Hamlisch's 'Search for a Star' program. She has given lecture-recitals and presentations at national and international conferences throughout the country, as well as in Germany, Austria, Japan, Ireland, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica.  Solomon attended the Juilliard School Pre-College and holds B.A. and M.M. degrees from Yale, and received her D.M.A. from Boston University.
