Westminster College was named one of the "50 Great Affordable Colleges in the Northeast" by Great Value Colleges, a website that helps students find the best possible education for their money.
The categories considered are: six-year graduation rate; freshmen retention rate; student-to-faculty ratio; percentage of classes taught by teaching assistants; average entrance ACT score; number of campus organizations; number of academic programs; and Forbes ranking. In addition, all schools on the list have a net price (total cost of attendance minus the average financial aid package) under $22,000.
The 50 schools that meet the criteria are further divided into public and private institutions. Others in the private school category include: Princeton, Yale, and Harvard Universities; Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and Dartmouth, Vassar, and Wellesley Colleges.
Great Value Colleges (website) cites Westminster's freshmen retention rate (87%) and six-year graduation rate (77%) as "well above average" and states pre-med students are "accepted into med schools at nearly double the national rate."
