College Named One of "The Most #GirlBoss Colleges"

Posted on Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Westminster College was named to Her Campus's (website) 2014 list of "The Most #GirlBoss Colleges."

According to the site, "Whether they're in the classroom, on the playing field or promoting feminism, collegiettes™ at these 10 colleges are making positive changes in the world.  Inspired by Sophia Amoruso, founder of Nasty Gal and #GIRLBOSS, we came up with a list of schools where girls are empowered, supported and really smart!"

Westminster was ranked second in the category, citing Forbes - 36 percent of 2008 graduates were science, engineering, technology and mathematics (STEM) majors, with more women than men - and Westminster statistics that show its math and computer science department is more than half female.  "You might think that the best colleges for butt-kicking women in STEM fields would be in Silicon Valley or tech hubs like Austin, Texas. But look no further than rural New Wilmington, PA - the home of Westminster College."

Other schools in the category include Barnard College, Harvey Mudd College, George Washington University, Vassar College and American University.
