Westminster Symphonic Band to Present "Mid-Winter Concert"

Posted on Friday, February 10, 2006

The 80-member Westminster College Symphonic Band will present a "Mid-Winter Concert" Friday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

Under the direction of Dr. R. Tad Greig, the band will perform "Dedication Overture" by Vittorio Giannini, "Scenes from the Louvre" by Norman Dello Joio, "Flourish for Wind Band" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and "Third Suite" by Robert Jager.  The ensemble will also perform Eric Whitacre's latest composition "Lux Aurumque" (Light and Gold) along with Ron Nelson's "Homage to Leonin" from his "Midieval Suite."

"As no concert is complete without a march, the Symphonic Band will perform John Philip Sousa's "Washington Post," Greig said.

The event is free and open to the public.  Contact Greig at (724) 946-7279 or e-mail greigrt@westminster.edu for more information.
