Posted on Friday, October 10, 2003

Dr. Bryan Rennie, associate professor of religion and philosophy at Westminster College, recently signed a contract with Continuum International Publishing Group.

Rennie's contract includes a volume titled, "Mircea Eliade: A Critical Reader."

"This volume of collected essays by and about Eliade is supposed to be crucial to a proper understanding of the man and his work, aimed primarily at the upper-level undergraduate and graduate student market," Rennie said.

Rennie also wrote entries on Mircea Eliade for "Brill Dictionary of Religions" for E.J. Brill Publishers, and "The Dictionary of Modern American Philosophers" for Bristol, UK: Theommes Press.

"I was also invited to contribute an article to an anthology called Rethinking Religion 101' that will concentrate on the problems and pedagogy of teaching the introduction to world religion courses,' Rennie said.

Rennie was also invited to be on the Editorial Board of Consultants of the "ARC: The Journal of the Faculty of Religions Studies" at McGill University, and on the consultative board of "Origins: Journal of Cultural Studies from Bucharest, Romania."

Rennie, who has been with Westminster College since 1994, is the Vira I. Heinz Endowed Chair of Religion, an endowed chair funded by the Heinz Foundation. He earned his undergraduate, master's and Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
