This student-led company was established in 2022 through the Environmental Entrepreneurship course taught by Dr. Helen Boylan in support of the Westminster College Apiary. The apiary program provides students with real-life entrepreneurial experiences and hands-on work with honeybees. The mission of the apiary is to provide sustainable, natural, and local honey and bee products, and support faculty and student research.
Interested in becoming a beek? Let’s talk – we need artists to design our logos & labels, web designers for our pages, business & marketing majors to assist in our business plan, educators to inform others about the benefits of pollinators, English students to write content for our digital and print pieces, students from communications to share our story with the world, science majors to help with our research, and many more!
Whatever your major, we have a veil for YOU!
The Westminster Bee Company currently offers honey in three different sizes: 5.5 oz, 10 oz, 15 oz. Additionally, the WBC also has t-shirts available and we are currently in the product development phase for other items! Have a great idea for a product? Let us know about your idea!
Westminster College’s beekeepers are students who have a passion for the environment and all things beekeeping! They represent all majors, backgrounds, and experiences. Some are first year students while others are seniors. For many, beekeeping may be their first hands-on field based course while others may be veterans. Either way, as apprehension transitions into expertise, and curiosity becomes creativity, our students develop competencies, commitments and characteristics that have distinguished human beings at their best. Our intrepid beekeepers would like to share their story with you!
