The School of Life & Health Sciences is composed of the Department of Biology and the Department of Nursing.
In addition to working with biology and molecular biology majors, the Department of Biology contributes to the interdisciplinary majors of Neuroscience, Environmental Science, and Environmental Studies. Biology faculty also advise many of our students in Pre-Med and other Pre-Health programs and oversee several of our health-related Bachelor’s Degree Plus programs, which are special, optional programs designed for students who plan to go to medical school or another health professions school after graduation.
The Department of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) through a unique partnership with UPMC Schools of Nursing. This collaboration means our students receive an exceptional nursing education grounded in the liberal arts that Westminster offers and unparalleled clinical and academic experiences offered by the hospital-based UPMC Jameson School of Nursing. The department also offers a fully online RN-BSN program for working nurses ready to take their careers to the next level.
