Rachael Woessner ’22

Sophomore molecular biology major Rachael Woessner received a research grant from the Drinko Center to conduct her research project titled “Using CRISPR-Cas to create a Staphylococcus aureus deletion mutant strain that is deficient in biofilm production.” Rachael was mentored by Dr. Joshua Corrette-Bennett.

“The experience improved my focusing skills while also improving multitasking skills and being able to prepare myself 4-5 steps ahead, which is key. It also helped my critical and creative thinking skills—when something doesn’t work out like you planned, how can you move forward? I believe these two skills are just as important as all the lab skills and techniques that I learned, which helped better prepare me for my future.”
