School of Music

About the School

“Quality, Community, and Care” – this is what sets Westminster College’s School of Music apart from others. Our School consistently produces top-grade music professionals who have long and varied careers as music educators, music performers, arts administrators, and other leaders and professionals in the music industry. School of Music students participate not only in their primary ensembles but also have the opportunity to pursue a wide range of other performing groups, some of which have earned national and international distinction.

Students can earn double majors as a way to prepare themselves for multiple options for careers in music. Every student is treated as a budding professional musician and gets one hour of music lessons per week, and if they are performance majors, they receive two hours per week. We believe in the holistic development of the musician and prepare our students to be nimble in their future careers. Our alumni network in Music is very supportive, and our graduates go on to be high-achieving professionals both in Music and even professionals in other fields that remain strong advocates for Music and for the arts in general throughout their lives.
