Westminster College Hosting Local Area Network Party

Westminster College Admissions is hosting a local area network party (LAN) for prospective high school students, current students, and alumni Saturday, Oct. 30, beginning at 10 a.m.

 "A LAN party is an event where everyone brings their computers to one central location, hook up their computers to a small network, and play various computer games," said Stanton Fleming, coordinator of user and desktop services at Westminster College.  "The winners of the tournament can walk away with prizes such as t-shirts, hats, mouse pads, posters, software and even computer hardware."

 "You never know who is going to be on a team, you just join the game and the server puts you where it needs a player," said Colin Dean, a sophomore computer science major from Volant.

Westminster Accounting Professor Attends Meeting of Advisory Group of CPAs

Paul Wozniak, professor of accounting at Westminster College, recently attended a meeting of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) in Philadelphia.

 The mission of the PICPA is to further the well being of its members, while upholding the public interest, by: Enhancing quality services founded on professional competence, integrity, and objectivity; Serving as an advocator for, and promoting the public image of, its members; and Articulating positions on professional and public issues where the expertise of CPAs is relevant.

 Wozniak, who has been with Westminster College since 1974, earned his undergraduate and master's degrees from Youngstown State University, and is a Certified Public Accountant of Pennsylvania.
