Tate Slaven Receives Newman Civic Fellow Award
Westminster College sophomore communication studies major Tate Slaven was among 162 students from 32 states honored as Newman Civic Fellows by Campus Compact.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Four Westminster students and two professors presented research at the American Society of Criminology (ASC) Conference Nov. 14 in Chicago.
Westminster College Titan Football to Honor Boy with Brain Cancer at Homecoming Game
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Titans Football team will battle the Carnegie Mellon Tartans at the Homecoming game Saturday, Oct. 12, while honoring a young boy who is fighting a battle of his own. During the coin toss the team will announce 12-year-old Joseph Clark of Meadville, who is battling cancer, as an honorary team member and captain.
Symphony Orchestra to Present Concert
The Westminster College Symphony Orchestra will present a concert Friday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
Westminster College Celebrity Series Presents the Mendelssohn Choir
The Westminster College Celebrity Series presents the Mendelssohn Choir Saturday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. in the newly-refurbished Orr Auditorium.
"Nothing in the world of entertainment equals the delightful experience of listening to a well-trained large choral group," said Gene DeCaprio, director of the Celebrity Series. "This choir is renowned for its versatile repertoire."
Under the direction of the Grammy Award winning music director Robert Page, the 110-voice choir has toured internationally and presents an annual concert series. The choir will present a program of familiar and popular music.
Westminster's Orr Auditorium has been recently remodeled to include air conditioning, stage elevator, new carpeting, and re-upholstered seats, along with stage lighting and shell improvements.

Westminster College Added Six Full-Time Faculty
Westminster College recently added six new full-time faculty.
Dr. David O. Cushman, visiting professor of economics and chair of the Department of Economics and Business, earned his undergraduate degree from Stetson University and his master's and doctorate from Vanderbilt University. He comes to Westminster from the University of Saskatchewan, and has taught at the University of New Orleans and the University of South Florida. John F. Gresh, visiting assistant professor of theatre, earned his undergraduate degree and his master's from Point Park University and has teacher certification for Fitzmaurice Voicework. He has taught at Point Park University and Winston-Thurston School. He is a private voice/speech and drama coach, as well as an actor, director, jazz pianist and vocalist. Kristianne Kalata, visiting instructor of English, earned her undergraduate degree from Westminster College and her master's from Duquesne University. Jonathan Moser, visiting lecturer of music, earned his undergraduate degrees at Harid Conservatory, University of the Pacific and Shenandoah University, and his master's from Arizona State University. Concert Choir and Chamber Singers Spring Concert April 23
The Westminster College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers spring concert is Sunday, April 23, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.
Under the direction of Dr. Robin Lind, the choir will perform "There is a Balm in Gilead" featuring soloists: Darci Kuhlber, a senior music education major from Grove City; Sarah Timm, a junior music education major from St. Marys; and David Timm, a sophomore music education major from St. Marys. Music continues with "Greater Love Hath No Man" featuring Craig Dressler, sophomore music performance major from Erie on the organ; and soloists Winifred Limmer, a senior psychology major from New Vernon, N.J.; and Douglas Spiri, a senior music education major from Pittsburgh.
The program continues with "Pai duli vwihdul ja," a Russian folksong, and "La Traviata" with soloists Bridget Steller, a senior music education major from Millbrook, N.Y.; and William McCullough, a sophomore music education major from DuBois.
Three Lacrymosa's, which are part of larger requiem pieces, will be conduced by Westminster alumnus, Sean Taylor '04. One is written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one by Guiseppe Verdi, and one by Nancy Galbreath, Carnegie Mellon University faculty member. Verdi's music features a quartet of Westminster alumni: Nora Drake Saeler '01, Jennifer Gardner Newman '00, Matthew Newman '01, and Brian Barrett '03

Westminster College is offering four summer academies for teachers June 23-26 through the Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
The Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was developed to advance world-class teaching at Westminster and enrich K-12 education through outreach programs for area educators.
