Alumni to guest host for Titan Radio football broadcasts

This fall, Westminster College will welcome several alumni to the Titan Radio broadcast booth as guest announcers for home Titan football games.

Beginning Saturday, the guest alumni announcers—including John Mikulas ’96, Augustus Necastro ’20, Jason Mackey ’06, Joe Salmen ’18 and Kellen Gursky ’17—will join student announcer Ben Kelly ’27 and provide live coverage and in-depth analysis to Titan Radio listeners.

Guest announcers and their scheduled dates are as follows:

John Mikulas, Saturday, Sept. 14: 1 p.m., Westminster vs. Waynesburg. Mikulas, a 1996 broadcast communication graduate, served as the play-by-play voice of the Titan basketball program, Westminster TV sports director and was a member of the 1994 national championship football team. Professionally, Mikulas was an on-air disc jockey and spent over 25 years of his career at WFMJ-TV21 in Youngstown, Ohio. He resides in Hermitage, Pa.

Augustus Necastro, Saturday, Oct. 5: 1 p.m., Westminster vs. Washington & Jefferson. Necastro, a former Westminster Cable Network (WCN) announcer, is a former Titan starting quarterback who appeared in two ECAC bowls. After graduating with a degree in biology, he earned a master’s degree in applied clinical nutrition and a Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Northeast College of Health Sciences in Seneca Falls, N.Y. He resides in Cleveland.

Jason Mackey, Saturday, Oct. 19, Homecoming: 1 p.m., Westminster vs. Saint Vincent. A broadcast and communications graduate and former Titan baseball player, Mackey is currently a columnist for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He previously worked as a Penguins and Pirates beat writer for the Post-Gazette and other news outlets. He appears on KDKA-TV regularly and 93.7 FM, the Fan.

Joe Salmen, Saturday, Oct. 26: 7 p.m., Westminster vs. Case Western Reserve.  A former Titan football player, Salmen was a two-time all-conference punter for the Titans and a special teams MVP in 2017. A pitcher and an outfielder, he was also a two-time all-conference baseball player, was all-region in 2017 and was a 2018 pre-season all-American selection. The seven-year freshmen boys' basketball coach at Hickory High School in Hermitage, Pa., he also served as Westminster football coach for tight ends, running backs and specialists. He is currently a wealth adviser at JFS Wealth Advisors in Hermitage.

Kellen Gursky, Saturday, Nov. 16, Senior Day: 1 p.m., Westminster vs. Grove City. A broadcast and digital communications graduate, Gursky announced Titan football and men's and women's basketball for four years. After graduation, Kellen worked for iHeart Radio for three years, including Steelers Nation Radio, where he co-hosted the Steelers’ weekly talk show on SNR, ESPN 970, 96.1 KISS FM and 105.9, the X.

Also this fall, Tiffany Jackson Greene ’16 will join Mark Slezak ’87 in the WCN television broadcast booth for live volleyball coverage on Oct. 30 and Nov. 6. A broadcast and media production graduate, Greene was a four-year member of the women’s volleyball team. As a student, she worked on numerous broadcasts, including football, basketball and graduation ceremonies. She also hosted “Coaches Corner” and was a reporter and anchor for WCN. Since graduating, she has called swimming and diving and women’s volleyball. She works for Higher Education Technologies and resides in West Middlesex, Pa., with husband Harrison Greene ’16.

The Westminster College Network (WCN) will telecast home Titan Football games live and free of charge.
