Westminster College will join the worldwide GivingTuesday movement on Tuesday, Dec. 3, giving the College’s community of alumni, friends and supporters the opportunity to donate to their choice of five Westminster fundraising campaigns that will directly impact the student experience.

This year’s crowdfunding campaign theme, “Westminster Wish Lists,” shines a light on a variety of student-focused initiatives. Contributions can be made online from 12 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, to 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4. The campaign is powered by GiveCampus, the social media fundraising platform that features peer-to-peer fundraising and donor online matches and challenges. An early giving option is also available now for those who want to make a contribution before Dec. 3.

“Each year’s crowdfunding campaign brings new opportunities to impact our students, and we hope that this year’s Wish List inspires our alumni and friends to become wish granters,” said Kara Montgomery, senior director of alumni engagement. “The projects are so tangible and donors can quite literally see their gift come to life. There’s no greater reward than watching your contribution make a student’s wish come true.”

Donations can be made to five Wish List projects: Academic Crime Labs, Brittain Lake Kayaks and Life Vests, Student Service Trips, Titan Tour Guide Essentials and the Wherever Needed Most Fund. The goal of the campaign is to reach 250 donors through participation and outreach to fellow Titans.

Academic Crime Labs
Gifts to this Wish List item will support hands-on learning in two forthcoming lab spaces for the Crime Investigation class. Criminal justice students will be able to evaluate mock crime scenes using the latest criminal justice technologies. Donations to this project will provide necessary supplies and materials—blood splatter kits, trajectory tools and reusable gels and powders—to give students vital crime scene training.

Brittain Lake Kayaks and Life Jackets
For years, Brittain Lake has provided Westminster students with learning and recreational opportunities. As the College’s fleet of canoes and other equipment have been removed from operation, gifts to this project will support the purchases of new kayaks, paddleboards, life vests and other equipment and accessories, enhancing the student on-campus experience.

Student Service Trips
Westminster’s global and domestic student service trips arranged through the Office of Faith and Spirituality—from mission trips to South Africa, Habitat for Humanity’s annual home building trips or the College’s annual Experience Alaska trip—provide students with transformative experience, but these opportunities come with a price tag. Gifts to this project will help ease the financial burden of students wishing to participate in Westminster service trips, fostering the College’s commitment to service and meaningful engagement.

Titan Tour Guide Essentials
At Westminster, the Office of Admissions relies on student Titan Tour Guides to provide informative and entertaining campus tours to prospective students and their families. Gifts to this project will provide our guides with Westminster-branded clothing, an expression of school pride and professionalism.

Wherever Needed Most Fund
The Wherever Needed Most Fund is Westminster’s most diverse fund, allowing donor dollars to be directed to wherever they are most urgently needed. Whether supporting student scholarships or providing funding to an unpredictable need, this fund remains an annual priority and helps to recruit and maintain students.

This is the sixth consecutive year Westminster has participated in GivingTuesday, the globally recognized day of charitable giving held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving that follows the holiday commercial shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
