Nine Westminster College students had a unique opportunity to explore sustainability efforts within the sports industry by attending the Cleveland Cavaliers’ College Sustainability Night on Nov. 17 at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

Westminster students represented a variety of academic disciplines and were immersed in sustainability practices through a series of insightful activities. They attended a sustainability panel discussion, toured the venue, observed warm-ups from the Bowl and watched the Cleveland Cavaliers in action during the evening’s game. The student trip was organized by Westminster’s School of Business and the Harms Center for the Environment.

The sustainability panel featured:

• Emily Keller, director of sustainability initiatives, Greater Cleveland Partnership
• Sandee Reid, vice president of corporate communications and strategic planning, Davey Tree
• Hansen Coseo, sustainability committee lead and director of procurement, Cleveland Cavaliers

The panel was moderated by Danielle Doza, vice president of sustainability and environmental services for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“This trip offered our students an invaluable opportunity to experience the behind-the-scenes operations of a renowned sports organization. More importantly, it highlighted the collaborative efforts of companies to integrate sustainable business practices into their operations,” said Keith Bittel '95, assistant professor of business administration and accompanying faculty member.
