Dr. Kathy Brittain Richardson, president of Westminster College, has been appointed to the new Shenango-Mahoning Valley Business Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.

Richardson is one of 17 named to the newly established Shenango-Mahoning Valley Business Advisory Council, which covers parts of eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Business Advisory Council (BAC) members are leaders from a cross-section of regional businesses and from community development, consumer and labor organizations across the Fourth Federal Reserve District.

Richardson, the College’s 15th president, has been active with regional civic organizations since her 2016 arrival at Westminster. She currently serves as treasurer for the Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation and is a member of New Wilmington’s Economic Development Committee (EDCOM) Board of Directors. She previously served on the Lawrence County Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the executive committee of the Forward Lawrence initiative.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland currently has eight BACs and the Appalachia Oil and Gas Roundtable that provide timely information on business conditions to help researchers identify emerging trends and to inform policymakers about the impact of monetary policy on the regional economy.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., comprise the Federal Reserve System.
