More than 375 Westminster College students earned Dean's List recognition for the 2005 spring semester.
The Dean's List recognizes students who attain a grade point average of at least 3.6 out of a possible 4.0.
The Westminster College Preschool will celebrate the "Week of the Young Child," April 2-8, with speakers, readers, educators, and parties.
"Early childhood experiences lay the foundation for later learning and work to make sure that children succeed in school and into adulthood," said Diana Reed, preschool teacher at Westminster's preschool. "Quality early childhood programs prepare children to take full advantage of their educational opportunities and become effective citizens, capable workers, and loving parents of the next generation."
The Westminster College Preschool Lab is celebrating the Week of the Young Child with the following special activities:
Monday, April 3 – Guest speaker Beth Meyer of New Wilmington will show the children her heirloom dolls and talk about their history.
Tuesday, April 4 – Guest speaker Kim Brennen of the New Castle Library will talk about reading books.
Wednesday, April 5 – President R. Thomas Williamson of Westminster College will read a book to the children.
Thursday, April 6 – Dr. Amy Camerdese, associate professor of education at Westminster College, will read "Kamishibai," a Japanese book.
Tuesday, April 11 – Space Night is Parents Night at the Preschool Lab. Preschoolers and their families will have the opportunity to enjoy a planetarium event, hosted by Dr. Sam Lightner, professor of physics at Westminster College. The parent committee is preparing games, art projects, and delicious snacks for an event that will be "out of this world."

Dr. John Robertson, assistant professor of biology at Westminster College, will present "What About the Fish" Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. in Phillips Lecture Hall located in the Hoyt Science Resources Center.
The Rev. Steven Mark Allen has been called as the new Westminster College Chaplain, and will begin his duties in the summer.

The Westminster College Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Ensemble will offer a weekend of music Friday and Saturday, May 4-5, at 7:30 p.m. The Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will perform at Orr Auditorium Friday, and the Jazz Ensemble will take the stage at Berlin Lounge in the McKelvey Campus Center Saturday.

Dr. Marosh Furimsky, Westminster College assistant professor of biology, presented a poster at the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology held Jan. 2-7 in San Antonio. Dr. John Robertson, associate professor of biology, was co-author of the work.
Dr. Timothy Sherwood, Westminster College associate professor and chair of the Department of Chemistry, will speak on "Moving Graveyards: Course, Textbook and Curriculum Reform" at Faires Faculty Forum Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 11:40 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater in the McKelvey Campus Center.
Westminster College students Keri Biedka and Brittany Bivens presented their research at the American Chemical Society Student Affiliation "In Miniature" Symposium 2009 April 20 at Duquesne University.
