Creative Media Production minor
Meadville, Pa.

Reid Sanderson, a senior from Meadville, Pa., is a passionate and creative student with a strong focus on broadcasting, sports communication and creative media production. Over the past three years at Westminster College, Sanderson has immersed himself in a variety of opportunities, consistently refining his skills.

He has taken on leadership roles across campus, serving as lead correspondent for The Holcad student newspaper and director of media for the Westminster Entrepreneurship Center (WEC). He also getting real-world experience working in the College’s marketing department where he serves as a student digital content creator. Through these experiences, Sanderson has gained a well-rounded skill set that has helped shape his creative and professional aspirations.

Sanderson credits The Holcad for honing his writing and storytelling abilities, helping him to develop a keen eye for detail and narrative construction. His work with the WEC has provided him with the opportunity to create promotional videos, as well as contribute to documentary projects, including one for the upcoming Entrepreneurship Leadership Council (ELC) Fashion Show. Additionally, his current role in the marketing department has allowed him to further his knowledge of media production and marketing strategies, preparing him for the dynamic world of entertainment.

A key part of Sanderson’s growth at Westminster has been his strong relationships with faculty. He cites School of Communication professors Kandice Hartner and Bradley Weaver as invaluable mentors who have supported him throughout his academic journey. Eric Gaber, WEC director and entrepreneur-in-residence at Westminster, has also played a pivotal role in Sanderson’s undergraduate career as he explores the intersection of media production and entrepreneurship.

“I think that we truly have special faculty and staff here who care about students and want to see them succeed. I wouldn’t be where I am today or confident about my future dream without these people, and I owe the success that I have now to them for giving me a chance,” Sanderson said.

Reflecting on his journey from childhood to college, Sanderson finds a clear connection between his early passions to his current ambitions.

“I grew up watching movies and TV shows, especially animation. When I was 10, I did not know exactly what I wanted to do, but I always knew I wanted to be in a creative field,” he said.

This early love for storytelling has directly influenced his career goals, as Sanderson hopes to work with a production company to continue building his creative skill set. Ultimately, Sanderson aspires to own his own in dependent animation studio, where he can produce and direct animated films and television series.
