Westminster College’s online student newspaper, The Holcad, recently named Madyson Treharne editor-in-chief for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Treharne, a junior from Burton, Ohio, joined The Holcad in 2023 as the U.K. correspondent while studying abroad at The University of Sunderland. She held the position of lead college correspondent over the past two semesters. Treharne is double majoring in creative media production and English literature.

As editor Treharne will lead weekly meetings, delegate stories and research topics. She will copy-edit student work with the support of Brad Weaver, School of Communication faculty member and Holcad faculty adviser.

Treharne is an active member of campus. In addition to being a member of the women’s track and field team, she is also a production assistant for Westminster Cable Network and assistant media editor for the track and field team. She is also a member of the sophomore honor society Lambda Sigma and served as a student mentor for Westminster’s Movie Making Workshop for local high schoolers.

“This is an exciting opportunity to not only contribute to a platform that amplifies student voices, but also shapes the direction of such a talented, creative team within the Titan community. I look forward to helping foster a culture of growth and experimentation while maintaining the integrity of our paper,” said Treharne.

The Holcad originated in 1884 as Westminster College’s weekly student newspaper. It contains news, reviews and editorials on all aspects of campus life and of events taking place nationally and internationally that may be of concern to students.
