Westminster College’s School of Music will host five upcoming spring concerts beginning this week. The performances will highlight music from various areas of the School of Music.
A Chamber Music concert is slated for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium on campus and will feature performances from various small ensembles such as saxophone quartet, string quartet and trumpet ensemble.
Westminster’s Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will present a combined concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium. Both are under the direction of Aaron Himes.
Weekend performances begin with Westminster’s Jazz Band, under the direction of JaKobe Henry, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the Berlin Lounge of McKelvey Campus Center.
The weekend of music will end with a 2:30 p.m. choir concert, directed by Dr. Ryan Keeling, on Sunday, April 27, in the Wallace Memorial Chapel.
The Symphony Orchestra will conclude spring concerts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium. The concert will feature soloists Alexandra Webster, a senior music education major from Oil City, Pa., and Jack Romocean, a senior music major from Ravenna, Ohio. They are the winners of this year’s Concerto and Aria Competition. The performances will be directed by Dr. Melinda Crawford Perttu.
