Nearly 380 Westminster College students earned Dean's List recognition for the 2009 fall semester.
International Film Series Opens with Swedish Film
The Jake Erhardt International Film Series will show the Swedish film Män som hatar kvinnor (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater in the McKelvey Campus Center.
Religion Professor Presented at Princeton Theological Seminary
Dr. Kang-Yup Na, Westminster College associate professor of religion, gave an invited lecture at Princeton Theological Seminary March 26 as part of the seminary's celebration of the quadricentennial of the King James Version of the Bible.
Student Philanthropy Program to Host G.I.V.E. Day

Westminster College Professor to Discuss Surprising Discoveries of Founding of American Republic Based on Roman Republic
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Dr. Dwight Castro, Westminster professor of classics, will present "De Re Publica Romana et Re Publica Americana: Some Surprising Discoveries" at the Faires Faculty Forum Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 11:40 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater of the McKelvey Campus Center.
Ten Westminster College Business Students Place in Top 100 in Global Business Strategy Game
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Ten students in the Westminster College "Strategic Management" capstone course recently placed in the Top 100 for their performance during the week of April 29-May 5 in a global simulation known as the Business Strategy Game.
College Represented on Executive Board of National Council
Dr. Terri Lenox, professor of computer science and Chair of Westminster's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, was appointed to the executive board of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) at its annual business meeting in Washington, DC, in June.
Eight Westminster College Students to Study Off-Campus
Eight Westminster College students are studying in Argentina, Germany, Mexico, Spain and Pittsburgh during the fall semester.
"Study abroad is the best opportunity our students have for learning about the larger world that's out there," said Dr. Jeffrey Bersett, director of off-campus study and assistant professor of Spanish. "Going overseas shows them more than just new places. They return to Westminster with new ways of looking at things, and with a new understanding of how everything fits together."
As a part of their educational program, Westminster College students can spend as little as a month, or as much as a year, living and studying in an international or domestic program. Students who study off-campus are able to earn not only credits towards graduation, but also credit towards their major or minor, or towards fulfilling part of the Liberal Studies requirements.

Kimberly Duschek is a daughter of Edward and Eleanor Duschek. Duschek, a junior German major, is a graduate of Bethel Park High School. She is studying at Trier University in Germany.

Alexandra Mikhaylova is a daughter of Marina Mikhaylova. Mikhaylova, a senior financial economics and intnational economics and business major, is a graduate of Gateway High School. She is studying at American Unversity in Washington, D.C.

Jacklyn Fair is a daughter of David and Susan Dively. Fair, a junior Spanish major, is a graduate of North Hills High School. She is studying in Mexico, Argentina, and Spain.

Jennifer Britton is a daughter of Richard and Shirley Britton. Britton, a junior German and Spanish major, is a graduate of Clearfield Area High School. She is studying at Otto-von-Guericke-Universitat in Germany.

Cindi Henderson is a daughter of Irene and Clark Henderson. Henderson, a senior international business major, is a graduate of Columbia Local High School. She is studying at the University of Granada in Spain.

Westminster Sociology Students Present Research at Conference
Six Westminster College senior sociology students recently presented their research at the annual meeting of the North Central Sociology Association in Pittsburgh.

Tara Timpano, a daughter of Anthony and Terri Timpano, presented "Closed on Sundays: The Amish Response to Rationalization." Timpano is a graduate of Rochester Area High School.
Scenery Hill, PA
Amy Rentz, a daughter of Matt and Christie Rentz, presented "Bathtubs and Spinal Taps: The Continuum of Rationalized Childbirth." Rentz is a graduate of Bentworth High School.
Vandergrift, PA
Jeremy Baker, a son of Scott and Sally Baker, presented "Deindustrialization and its Effects on the American Middle Class." Baker is a graduate of Leechburg Area High School.
Greenville, PA
Lauren Anderson, a daughter of Dale and Susan Anderson, presented "The Rationalization of an Agency and Its Effects: A Qualitative Look at Burnout Rates in Social Workers." Anderson is a graduate of Jamestown Area High School.

Broadway Celebration Coming to Westminster Celebrity Series
"Broadway! The Star Spangled Celebration" will appear Saturday, March 11, at 8 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.
"This spectacular production includes some of the most famous musicals of the 20th century," said Gene DeCaprio, director of the Westminster College Celebrity Series. " Great dancing, lavish costumes and lighting make this a magical evening in theater."
Music from "Crazy for You," "Hello Dolly," "Oklahoma," "Cabaret," "42nd Street," "Grease," "Chicago," "Rocky Horror Show," "Copacabana," "Chorus Line," "My Fair Lady," and "Mamma Mia" are featured in this production.
Westminster's Orr Auditorium was recently remodeled to include air conditioning, stage elevator, new carpeting, and re-upholstered seats, along with stage lighting and shell improvements.
